Everything for the Super Bowl! Aaron Rodgers has signed a new contract with the New York Jets, giving up up to $35 million over the next two years. This is reported by several US media unanimously.

Accordingly, the contract of the star quarterback is redesigned. He’s signed a new two-year contract totaling $75 million that’s fully guaranteed. In the ideal case, his previous contract might have brought him a guaranteed sum of almost 110 million dollars. With the money saved, the Jets can sign other players for their title ambitions and put them at Rodgers’ side.

The 39-year-old switched from the Green Bay Packers to the Jets in the spring and “took his contract with him”. Now he is said to have signed the adjusted deal.

“NFL Network” reports that the working paper, like the previous one, includes the option for two more following the two years. The fifth is a “Void Year”. Then he is officially no longer under contract, but the Jets can spread the signing bonus over several years.

According to the report, Rodgers also secured a no-tag and no-trade clause. That means the Jets aren’t allowed to tag him following the contract expires. Also, a trade to an NFL competitor would not be possible without the quarterback’s approval.

Big ambitions with the New York Jets

In addition to Rodgers, the Jets have brought several top players to the “Big Apple” in recent months. The concentrated star power lets the pros in New Jersey dream of a really big coup.

“I’m not going to hide it, that’s what we’re playing for. We’re playing to win the game,” Jets receiver Garrett Wilson told NFL insider John Flanigan. “I’m not going to beat around the bush, we want to win a Super Bowl. You don’t make moves like we do in the offseason unless you’re trying to get there.”

It’s been a long time since the Jets last won SB. In January 1969, the East Coast team won the third Super Bowl. Back then, they beat the Baltimore Colts, now known as the Indianapolis Colts, 16-7.

Rodgers won his first and only Super Bowl ring with the Green Bay Packers in February 2011.
