Cook, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, did not enter the Vikings’ plans for this season and was released as a free agent last June.

The player born in Opa-locka, Florida, was tempted by several teams, but in the end he decided on the Jets, following the visit he made to them on July 28.

The 28-year-old running back came to the NFL drafted in the second round of the 2017 Draft by Minnesota, a team he was with until last season.

In six seasons he had 5,993 yards on 1,282 carries and added 47 touchdowns. He has a streak of four seasons with 1,000-plus yards. The Jets haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since Chris Ivory in 2015.

New York needed an effective running back following it lost rookie Breece Hall to a torn ACL and is picking up the pace to get back into action.

In addition to Cook and Hall, coach Robert Saleh’s team also has Michael Carter and Bam Knight in its running back room.

The Jets have raised great expectations among their fans in the season that is regarding to begin thanks to the arrival of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, four times named Most Valuable Player of the season, along with receivers Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb and tackle Billy Turner.

The New York Jets have played two preseason games. In the first, on August 3, they lost 21-16 once morest the Cleveland Browns; in the second of the previous weekend they beat the Carolina Panthers 27-0.

They will close the preseason with games once morest the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Saturday, and once morest the New York Giants on the 26th of this month.
