NYPD is beefing up security for the Jewish community in New York after Iran fired dozens of missiles yesterday at Israel y The US ratified its support for that country to defend itself.
In a preventive response, police officers will be in front of religious institutions such as synagogues throughout the city while Tensions continue to rise in the Middle East. No specific or credible threatsbut caution, officials stressed.

Yesterday’s missile launch is the latest in a series of escalating attacks in a years-long conflict between Israel and Iran and their Arab allies that threatens to push the Middle East towards a regional war.
Adams and Hochul had a virtual meeting yesterday about the issue. The mayor added that before the new attacks he was already planning a security briefing for this Wednesday related to the upcoming Jewish holidays and the upcoming first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
“Violence in the Middle East comes on the eve of Jewish holidays and some New Yorkers are on edge. “The already robust security outside Temple Emanu-El on East 65th Street was reinforced Tuesday night,” he said. ABC News.
The New York Police Department said last month that it had added about 4,000 protests since October 7. NYPD and the FBI have been in high alert in anticipation of attacks and riots during protests of sympathizers on both sides, with New York being the city with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel and also the headquarters of the UN.
The measures have included monitor social media and other communications for potential terrorist threats. It has also increased the control over droneswhich according to NYPD may pose a serious threat to the safety of New Yorkers.
