New York Giants named the first woman who will have a position in the franchise

The new coach in chief of the New York Giants, Brian Dabollnamed a good part of his team of collaborators on Friday, including the first woman to hold such a position in the team’s history.

Among the new appointments in the staff of Daboll figure Laura Young, who will serve as director of training operations. Her job will be to coordinate and organize practices as well as various operations on game day.

Young has 18 years of experience in the NFLthe last four with Detroit and Buffalowhere he was Bills player services coordinators.

Mike Kafka will be the new offensive coordinator and Don ‘Wink’ Martindale will be in charge of defense. Thomas McGauthey is back for a fifth season as special teams coordinator.

In addition to Laura, two other members of the Bills will follow Daboll in their emigration to the Meadowlands, offensive line coach Bobby Johnson and quarterbacks Sha Tierney,

Daboll also named DeAndre Smith as running coach, while Mike Groh will guide the receivers. Andy Bischoff will supervise the tight ends and Tony Sparano Jr. is the new assistant offensive line coach.

Daboll was hired by the Giants late last month to rebuild a team that has strung together five ineffective seasons. In the last one, his record was 4-13 under the orders of the dismissed Joe Judge.
