New York City Faces Immigration Crisis: Mayor Adams Warns of City’s Potential Destruction

The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, stated that the place he governs is experiencing an “immigration crisis” that is going to “destroy the city.” Retired police officer, member of the Democratic party, Adams assured that 110,000 asylum seekers have passed through the city since April 2022 and almost 60,000 are living in government shelters.

The communal chief targeted citizens arriving from Latin American countries in particular, indicating that the city is receiving 10,000 immigrants a month from Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico and West Africa.

According to Adams, this has caused a deficit of US$12 billion in the municipal budget. And she warned that all municipal services will have to be cut to cover the expenses of immigrants.

“Sometimes we received from Venezuela, now they come from Ecuador, now we have from Russia coming through Mexico, from West Africa. Now we receive people from all over the world,” said the Democratic mayor.

“Let me tell you something, New Yorkers: I have never had a problem in my life that I haven’t seen an end to. I don’t see an end to this,” Adams had begun his speech at a town hall meeting this week, lamenting the 10,000 people who come to the Big Apple each month. “This problem will destroy New York City.”
