It’s getting dark around the lake basin – the fireworks are starting

Almost 21 degrees were measured in the Jura today, and at Zurich Airport there was a record temperature of 15.1 degrees – it has never been so warm on New Year’s Eve since measurements began in Kloten.

The heat also attracts tens of thousands to Lake Zurich, where at 12:20 a.m. the magical New Year’s Eve fireworks display is intended to enchant the crowds.

150,000 visitors are expected, 10,000 rockets are in the starting blocks for the big fireworks display.
The light goes out. It’s getting dark all around the lake basin. «Where exactly are the fireworks taking place?» someone asks excitedly. “Somewhere there,” is the answer. All eyes are directed somewhere there. A little to the right, the first missile hisses into the black sky. The fireworks have started.
The New Year is also greeted on Langstrasse. Be it with fireworks on the street …
… or with sparklers on a roof terrace.
The countdown is running. ZERO Happy New Year! People hug each other. Unreal to think that for the past two years we have hardly dared to shake hands with our loved ones on New Year’s Eve.
It doesn’t have to be the lake shore. People position themselves on the panorama trail above Zurich.
Bahnhofstrasse is packed with people flocking to the lake. Also from the Polyterrasse one reports: full. And fireworks in the middle.

It’s twenty to twelve. The church bells in the city center ring out the old year. The previously exuberant atmosphere is now more festive. However, only a few mourn the old year. Rather something to forget, is the basic tenor in the group.
How many bells are there that are ringing? In any case, they seem to be well matched. A really harmonious bell choir.

Midnight is approaching, but if you still want to eat now, you need patience. “We still need a cup,” a woman calls out frantically.

The festival grounds have filled, but are not overcrowded. The mood is peaceful and upbeat. The audience is very mixed. Families with small children, many groups of young people, on the right bank of the lake many young men are partying, sometimes exuberantly. Rockets are already being fired in abundance, especially on the left bank of the lake. You might shy away from the competition when things get going in the lake basin just after midnight.
