Xiaomi‘s Latest Teasers: What Does POCO M7 Pro 5G Mean for Us?

Alright, gather around tech enthusiasts and phone aficionados! It appears that Xiaomi hasn’t finished tickling our tech cravings just yet. While we were basking in the glow of the Redmi Note 14 series—those nifty gadgets that promise to take over our lives one notification at a time—rumors are swirling around the new POCO M7 Pro 5G. Because who doesn’t want more choice, right? More options mean more chances to buy something we’ll never use!

We’ve already seen the launch of the Redmi Note 14 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, and the pièce de résistance, Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G. Quite a lineup—like a bunch of mates at the pub, each trying to outdo the next!

Now, hold onto your wallets because there’s chatter about the upcoming Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G and a possible Redmi Note 14 4G. Oh, how clever of them—who doesn’t want even more variations? Might we suggest a model called the “Redmi Note 14 but Different”? It has a nice ring to it!

According to our pals over at Gizmochina, deep diving into the IMEI databases has revealed a couple of new contenders lurking in the shadows: the POCO M7 4G and Redmi 14 4G. These beauties will apparently strut their stuff beneath Xiaomi’s established stars. Need we say? They’re the underdog story we didn’t ask for, but here they come, donning capes and ready for action!

  • POCO M7 4G
    • 25028PC03G
    • 25028PC03I
    • 25028PC03Y
  • Redmi 14 4G
    • 25028RN03A
    • 25028RN03L
    • 25028RN03I
    • 25028RN03Y

Intriguingly, brace yourself for some alphabet soup! The ‘A’ in 25028RN03A denotes the non-NFC version of the POCO M7 4G—because who needs NFC when you can just wave at your neighbor to pay for that overpriced coffee? Meanwhile, the ‘Y’ suggests a global version equipped with NFC. Don’t be surprised if they have an ‘OMG’ version next! Alas, the grand reveal of specifications remains a mystery, cloaked in secrecy like a magician’s tricks. Spoiler alert: their model numbers suggest they are essentially the same device dressed in different clothes.

And because we like to keep things easy, let’s talk timelines! These nifty 4G devices are purportedly scheduled for a debut in February 2025—mark your calendars, or better yet, set a reminder on one of the devices you probably just bought that will be outdated in a week!

In conclusion, as we await the arrival of these pocket-sized wonders, we must ask ourselves: do we really need more choices in 4G smartphones? Nah, of course not! But who are we kidding? We’re going to buy them anyway. After all, that shiny new toy with a number that almost sounds like it belongs in a chemistry lab is just too tempting, isn’t it?

It’s been a while since details about the POCO M7 Pro 5G leaked online. Since then, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 14 series, which currently consists of the Redmi Note 14 5G, Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G and the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus 5G. However, there are now signs that the company could soon launch the Redmi Note 14 Pro 4Gwhich would probably also be joined by a Redmi Note 14 4G.

Now, Gizmochina has unearthed information on two even cheaper options that will sit below Xiaomi’s POCO and Redmi series. Specifically, the website has found multiple references in the IMEI databases to the POCO M7 4G and the Redmi 14 4G, evidence of which we have embedded below. As usual, the IMEI results do not confirm many details about either device.

Instead, they link model numbers to retailer names. In this case, the Redmi 14 4G and POCO M7 4G should finally be launched with the following model numbers:

  • POCO M7 4G
    • 25028PC03G, 25028PC03I, 25028PC03Y
  • Redmi 14 4G
    • 25028RN03A, 25028RN03L, 25028RN03I, 25028RN03Y

According to Gizmochinathe ‘A’ of the 25028RN03A corresponds to a non-NFC version of the POCO M7 4G. Meanwhile, ‘Y’ should refer to a global version with NFC. Please note that this is not necessarily an exhaustive list of POCO M7 4G and Redmi 14 4G. In any case, all variants should debut from February 2025, which Gizmochina speculates that it will be produced in the second quarter of 2025 to replace both the POCO M6 4G y Redmi 13 4G (currently $175 on Amazon). Unfortunately, the specifications of both devices are currently unknown, although their model numbers suggest that they are based on the same underlying development device.
