On the other hand, the ministry reports recent reassuring data on the risk of myocarditis or pericarditis means that the preferential recommendation for the Pfizer vaccine in people aged 12 to 29 is withdrawn. Thus, the Moderna vaccine can be used without fear by this clientele.

With regard to vaccine doses, their number to be administered is no longer influenced by the presence or absence of a previous confirmed infection nor by the number of doses previously received.

This change follows a decision by Public Health, resulting from a recommendation issued by the Quebec Immunization Committee (CIQ).

Recommendations regarding possible additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be released later, depending in particular on the evolution of this disease and the arrival of future variants.

The ministry specifies that the simplification announced Friday applies to the entire population, with the exception of children aged under five and immunocompromised people who have never received doses of vaccine once morest COVID-19.

However, a particularity applies to immunocompromised people who have never been vaccinated once morest COVID-19, for whom an additional dose of vaccine is recommended. Concerning children under five years old, the recommendations remain the same as those communicated to parents during vaccination. They might therefore receive additional doses depending on the product used and the number of doses already received.

Furthermore, the recommended interval between a COVID-19 infection and vaccination remains at six months. However, an interval of three months is now accepted by the authorities to facilitate vaccination in certain circumstances.
