Once once more, a tree has been deliberately felled across a road in Denmark.
At least that is the assessment from the North Jutland Police, who moved out late Sunday evening to a rest area on Møldrupvej close to Madum Sø south of Aalborg.
Warden Jesper Sørensen says that the police received a report regarding the incident at 11.14pm on Sunday evening.
The reviewer stated that at approximately 22:55 he was on his way to an errand when he heard a chainsaw being started.
When the police arrived at the scene, the officers found that a tree had indeed been knocked over the roadway.
– Our assessment is that it was a deliberate act. It looks to us like the tree was felled with a chainsaw, says Jesper Sørensen.
The complainant has informed the police that he saw 2-3 men – presumably young – driving away from the crime scene in a white or light Skoda Citigo.
According to Jesper Sørensen, no one was injured in connection with the incident.
But the police have been in contact with a person who drove into the tree, which caused material damage to the person’s car.
The tree has since been removed from the carriageway.
The police are now searching with flashlights for the perpetrators.
– We take it very seriously. We have had both the patrol and the incident leader out as well as our best dogs, says Jesper Sørensen.
The police circle asks any witnesses to contact the police. They can call 114.
It is only a few weeks ago that Denmark was hit by a similar case – that time resulting in death.
In March, a 55-year-old man was killed when a large tree suddenly fell into his car on Parnasvej in Sorø.
Six men were arrested in the case and charged with murder. At the subsequent constitutional hearing, the court did not find grounds to remand them for murder, but considered that it was negligent manslaughter, and they were released.
The men plead not guilty to murder. In addition to the incident in Sorø, they are charged with causing danger in connection with the fact that a tree was felled with a chainsaw near Havrebjerg near Slagelse, located approximately 20 kilometers from Parnasvej.
No one was hurt here.
According to Jesper Sørensen, that incident emphasizes the seriousness of the situation.
– If we find these people, we are dealing with the provisions of the Criminal Code on causing danger. If it is more intentional, it is regarding violence or additional paragraphs that are dangerous to persons, he says.
