• Toyota is reportedly preparing two more Land Cruiser products, this time with electrified solutions.
The Land Cruiser SUV is returning to the market this year. This is a first since 2021 in the United States, but since 1996 for the Canadian market.
And Toyota wouldn’t stop there. Indeed, according to what the Autocar site reports, the company plans to offer two other Land Cruiser products in the years to come.
We will remember that in 2021, the Japanese firm unveiled the Compact Cruiser EV concept. Two years later, she showed us another study, the Land Cruiser Se. These are the two vehicles that Autocar says are headed to production as part of a plan that aims to broaden the appeal of the Land Cruiser brand and keep it relevant in a new electrified environment.
In the case of the Compact Cruiser EV, its styling takes up the new Land Cruiser 2024 language. It is clear that it targets younger buyers, as well as those who live in the city and the suburbs, rather than those who live in the regions. This strategy joins that of other manufacturers who have announced smaller adventurers, whether Mercedes-Benz which promises a more compact and electric G-Class, just like Land Rover which is working on a small Defender.
According to rumors circulating in Japan, gasoline and hybrid versions might see the light of day this year, with an electric variant to follow. This would use the E-TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform which currently serves the bZ4X.
We remain in speculation, we understand, while nothing has yet been confirmed by Toyota.

Then there’s this production version of the Land Cruiser Se concept that’s also being talked regarding. We would be talking regarding an all-electric vehicle which would this time be built on a monocoque structure, rather than on a ladder chassis. The model would be slightly larger than the Land Cruiser and would add a bit of luxury to those looking for an electric solution from Toyota.
Still according to Autocar, this model would appear in 2026, the year which will mark the 75th anniversary of the Land Cruiser, which saw the light of day in 1951 (BJ and later FJ models). The SUV would integrate Toyota’s new generation of prismatic cell batteries. This new design would allow electric vehicles to offer a range of around 1000 km.
Of course, all of this remains to be confirmed.
