Thanks to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, new adventures await us in September 2022 in Middle-earth, set thousands of years before the events of Frodo, the Companions and the One Ring. And with “The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim” there is another prequel in the works, which is not quite as far back in the past.
Now it is clear that there will be another thing in common between the two “Lord of the Rings” prequels: Because Both “The Rings of Power” and “The War Of The Rohirrim” will feature at least one character who is also known from the Peter Jackson films.
However, while characters like Galadriel and Elrond were recast in The Rings of Power, a character in “The War Of The Rohirrim” is actually played or voiced by the same actress: Miranda Otto is there once more as Eowyn. This is reported by the US industry magazine Deadline.
The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim is set 183 years before The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King of course, Eowyn might not have been alive at that point. Rather, she will act as the narrator of the film – which makes sense, following all it is regarding the history of their people, the people of Rohan.
Along with Mirando Otto as Eowyn, the other speakers have now been announced: The main characters are voiced by Brian Cox (“Troy”, “Succession”), Gaia Wise (“Picnic With Bears”) and Luke Pasqualino (“Snowpiercer”).
Also starring are Lorraine Ashbourne (King Kong, Bridgerton), Benjamin Wainwright (War and Peace), Laurence Ubong Williams (Humans), Shaun Dooley (The Witcher), Michael Wildman (Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw”), Jude Akuwudike (“Beasts Of No Nation”), Janine Duvitski (“The New World”) and newcomers Yazdan Qafouri and Bilal Hasna.
