Substations are the central switching points in the power grid and ensure that electrical energy can be transported over long distances from the place of generation to the consumers. Netz Oberösterreich GmbH, a subsidiary of Energie AG, has now put two substations into operation, which have been expanded and modernized in recent months. This significantly improved the supply situation in the Gmunden-Laakirchen region. A total of twelve million euros were invested
“With every substation, however, we also create new feed-in capacities for the increasing number of photovoltaic systems,” says Manfred Hofer, Managing Director of Netz Oberösterreich GmbH If there are technical bottlenecks in this area, the two new substations will not help directly, but they will ensure the safe and efficient transport of energy from the region.
“Each substation improves the situation for the supply and transport of energy,” says Hofer. An attempt will therefore be made to identify all available expansion potential for existing substations and to constantly review expansion under the drastically changing circumstances.
In Ohlsdorf, around six million euros were invested in the expansion from the switchgear to a complete substation. The investment sum for the Traunfall also amounts to around six million euros.
