A new statement has been issued by the Ministry of National Education regarding preparations for the 2024-2025 school year.

According to the statement seen by Agadir 24, the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, held a working meeting last Monday in Rabat with representatives of the private education sector in Morocco, in order to activate the work of the permanent committee between the ministry and these bodies.
The same source explained today, Wednesday, that the meeting, which was held at the ministry’s headquarters, was attended by the president of the Moroccan Private Education Association, the president of the Free Education and Training Union in Morocco, the president of the National Authority for Private Education and Training Institutions in Morocco, the vice president of the Private Education University affiliated with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, representatives of these bodies, the ministry’s secretary general, and a central team composed of officials from the relevant directorates.

The statement quoted Benmoussa as confirming during this meeting that “the private education sector in Morocco is considered a component of the educational system in our country, as the ministry is working to take measures aimed at organizing and supporting it to improve its performance and educational effectiveness, taking into account the relationship with families and the best interests of female and male students.”

The Minister mentioned the model contract to frame the relationship between families and private school education institutions, which is a basic reference document that places the student’s interest above all considerations and protects the rights of all parties, noting that it aims to guarantee the right of female and male students to continue their studies regularly, and not to make their academic path dependent on any dispute between the two parties.

He pointed out that this contract will be enriched with the next school year, by working on issuing an updated version of it and framing it with a ministerial memorandum to implement it in a way that achieves its goals.

Benmoussa warned representatives of the private education sector not to raise tuition fees and not to burden mothers, fathers and guardians of students. He stressed the need to ensure that duties are consistent with the educational services provided. In a related context, Benmoussa stated that the ministry had prepared proposals during this season to enrich the draft school education law that was put in the approval procedure, which was developed in accordance with a joint structure with the bodies representing private school education.

He also pointed out the positive outcome of joint work with these bodies, which opens the way for establishing a strategic contract that will enhance cooperation, encourage investment, facilitate procedures, improve governance, and invest in the human resources provided by basic and continuous training capable of bringing about change within classrooms, while ensuring the development of educational offerings in this sector.

The statement concluded that representatives of the private education sector confirmed in their interventions their readiness and commitment to the success of the 2024/2025 school year, and to improve the educational offering they provide in line with the educational reform led by the ministry.
