The incident took place around 1:50 p.m. at the crossroads between rue Mexico and boulevard Léopold II, near rue de l’Intendant. The injured were evacuated to the hospital. One was stabbed in the back, the other was shot. One of the two victims is more seriously injured while the life of the other victim is not in danger. At the time of writing these lines, a vehicle (plate Z) was still parked in the middle of the boulevard, doors open.
The angry mayor
“I’m angry,” said the mayor of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on Twitter. “New shots in my municipality. I had spoken and written twice to Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden to alert her to the urgent need for additional police forces. I demand an immediate response,” said launched Catherine Moureaux (PS).
“The federal government cannot look away from what is happening here. It must put the means on the table to really harm drug and arms traffickers. Molenbeek also has the right to security!”, a- she insisted. “Our police officers in the Brussels-West police zone work a lot and well.
