Karlsruhe Insider: More security.
The Internet makes it possible: if you are fed up with long queues at the checkout or empty shelves, you can now easily do your shopping online. Large supermarkets such as Lidl, Rewe, Edeka and Co. now all have large online shops where you can buy almost all everyday goods. This purchase should now be safer.
The German Food and Feed Code will be adapted to the applicable EU law on September 1st, which will result in some changes. The monitoring of online trade in perishable food, cosmetics and other consumer goods is to be improved.
So far, there has been a crucial problem when shopping for groceries online. Often the products might not be traced back sufficiently. There were also major difficulties with product recalls. Thanks to the new regulation, this should now be a thing of the past, for better consumer protection.
For this reason, from September 1st, the information on the traceability of products should be sent to the authorities within 24 hours.
