In a blog post published by WhatsApp under the title of keeping the application personal and private, it is further stated that not all forwarded messages are false or fake, the fear of users due to the increase in forwarded messages. According to the report, wrong messages on WhatsApp have led to the end of many lives. In the Indian state of Maharashtra, in July 2018, 5 people were tortured to death in the outrage that spread due to a false WhatsApp message of child abduction.

Facebook has taken steps to combat fake and unverified news and posts, including free developer tools and features for Messenger.

A new feature in the beta version of WhatsApp is also working on accessing websites to know the background of any message sent to users.
