When scientists at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center looked at data from years of clinical records and conducted their own studies, their findings, recently published in the journal Cancer Discovery, showed that vitamin E effectively improved cancer outcomes. And cancer patients who took vitamin E during their treatment with immunotherapy (ICT) “significantly improved the survival rate,” according to the “eat this not that” specialized medical website.
“The potential role of vitamin E in preventing cancer along with chemotherapy has been suggested in several studies,” says researcher Melissa Mitri of the nutrition review website FinvsFin. This is one of the first studies to look at the role of vitamin E supplementation along with cancer immunotherapies such as immunotherapy.” Noting that, “Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that may provide a protective effect on the body. As an antioxidant. Because it helps prevent free radicals and harmful particles in the environment from entering the body and causing damage. Since cancer cells often reproduce as a result of this damage, an investigation has been made into the role that vitamin E may play in limiting cancer growth.”
“Research into vitamin E along with cancer immunotherapy is still in its early stages,” Mitri said. This study is one of the first to look at this combination, and therefore more research is needed to reach a definitive conclusion… It is clear however that overall good nutrition plus vitamin E is very important for cancer prevention and management. And that cannot be underestimated.”
As for how to make sure you get enough vitamin E in your diet, Mitri says it can be “found in almonds, peanut butter, sunflower seeds, wheat germ, beets, and leafy greens like spinach and kale.”
