New Report: Distribution of Newly Certified Physician Assistants by State in 2022

New York, California, Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas are among the states with the greatest number of newly certified physician assistants/associates, according to one new report.

The finding is from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, which surveyed PAs who were board certified for the first time in 2022 regarding their job search experiences, salary and other issues. There were 7,486 recently board-certified PAs who answered at least a portion of the survey between Jan. 1, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2022. In addition, data for age, gender and distribution of recently certified PAs by state include all 11,092 recently certified PAs who became initially certified last year.

Note: The numbers below include PAs who reported an address in the U.S. Nineteen of the 11,092 recently certified PAs had addresses classified as out of the country or military.
