reaching an extraordinary 676 feet, the building, designed by the acclaimed architecture firm FXCollaborative, will offer 600 residential units and 10,000 square feet of retail space. A recent rendering showcases the building’s captivating southwestern elevation, characterized by a multi-story podium that gracefully crowns the site. Adding a touch of verdant tranquility, the podium is topped with a landscaped terrace, offering residents a welcome respite from the city’s hustle and bustle.
The main tower, boasting sleek lines and a uniform silhouette, features subtle setbacks on its southeastern face. Fenton explains,”Certainly. We wanted to create a facade that was dynamic and responsive to the changing light throughout the day. By using black metal grids and reflective glass, we achieve a striking interplay of light and shadow that activates the building’s surface and makes it appear to change with the sun’s movement. The horizontal mullions on the lower floors gradually transition into vertical spans as the tower ascends,adding visual interest and rhythm to the facade.”

SF: From the outset,our goal was to create a contemporary structure that respected and enhanced Long Island City’s rapidly changing skyline. We wanted 24-19 Jackson avenue to complement its neighbors, both old and new, while also offering a unique and captivating presence. The building’s design, with its subtle setbacks and dynamic facade, aims to achieve this harmony.
Archyde: Speaking of the facade, it’s truly a standout feature. Can you walk us through the design process and the thoughtful integration of materials?
SF: Absolutely. We knew we wanted a facade that would interact with light throughout the day and create a vibrant, ever-changing canvas. That led us to explore the interplay of black metal grids and reflective glass. By using thes materials, we’ve achieved a striking contrast between dark and light facets, which engage with sunlight and make the building appear to shift with the sun’s movement.

SF: While we admire Skyline Tower, the visual connection you mentioned was more of an organic outcome than a conscious design decision. Both buildings share a commitment to clean lines and a sleek silhouette, which lends a cohesive aesthetic to the rapidly developing long Island City skyline.

SF: incorporating state-of-the-art wellness facilities was a key aspect of our design beliefs. We wanted to create a building that offers its residents a comprehensive, high-quality lifestyle. By situating these amenities within the podium, we’ve not only provided direct access for residents but also created a vibrant, activated base for the structure.
the outdoor swimming pool, running track, and various fitness studios all contribute to a robust offering that caters to diverse fitness needs and preferences. We believe that these amenities will significantly enrich the resident experience and foster a strong sense of community within the building.
Archyde: Sarah, what can residents and visitors expect from the completed project, and when should we anticipate its completion?
SF: When 24-19 Jackson Avenue is complete, residents and visitors can expect a dynamic, visually striking building that offers a wealth of amenities and seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. We’re aiming for a late 2026 completion, so there’s plenty to look forward to!
