new protests, the Belgian army impacted, the Minister of Justice gets involved!

Colruyt’s new project is controversial. Off Nieuport, the group is currently building a mussel, oyster and seaweed farm. This weekend, more than 100 sailboats circled the marine farm. The reason ? Show their displeasure since they feel that it is badly located. The Belgian army, which organizes shooting exercises off Lombardsijde, would also be affected.

If, as Gondola writes, the Colruyt group considers “that there is enough space for boats to enter and leave”, the Minister of Justice Vincent Van Quickenborne gets involved. He wants to know if there is a possibility of moving the mussel farm “to give more space to the sailors”, indicates the VRT NWS.

This is not the first time that this controversial project. The city of Nieuwpoort had already initiated summary proceedings. Procedure which has been declared unfounded.
