“By the end of the year, the prison of Drama, which has hundreds of new places, will be fully operational. The possibility of accommodation for special offenses in the so-called rural prisons is increasing and a new prison in Crete will be put into operation, we believe, quite soon,” the minister stressed.
“The issue of Athens is also evolving. The Prime Minister’s announcement was that when we have a new prison store in Aspropyrgos, Korydallos will obviously be closed. I can’t specify it in time because it is a big project which is in progress”, he added.
“The message to society is that today you don’t know any crime that doesn’t have some impact,” Mr. Floridis emphasized.
He said that the Korydallos prisons will be closed but for now there is no specific timetable and he stressed that the society should know that there is no crime without consequences.
Referring to the trial of the Tempos in Larissa, he noted that the venue has been reconfigured and is ready to accommodate the increased number of lawyers who have declared a performance. In particular, he emphasized that there are 252 lawyers for this particular trial.
