new price increase, diesel above 2 euros per liter on average

following gasoline, it was diesel’s turn to go above the symbolic 2 euro mark. According to the latest official figures, prices at the pump continue to soar. Last week, the liter of diesel reached 2.0694 euros on average in France, a jump of more than 10 cents compared to the previous week. These increases take place despite the government rebate at the pump of 18 cents. Diesel had already passed above this symbolic threshold at the end of March, before falling once more in the meantime.

The price per liter of Super SP95-E10 also continued to climb by 3 cents in one week, reaching 2.096 euros on average. As to SP98it reached last week 2,1989 euros on average in France. The hike comes amid rising global energy prices amid war in Ukraine, supply difficulties and runaway inflation, as the European Union prepares to halt oil purchases and Russian diesel.
