Discussions between the politico-military groups and the Chadian transitional government which were to resume Wednesday in Doha, Qatar, have once more been postponed for 48 hours.
The participants have not yet been able to agree on the differences, their representatives told Anadolu Agency.
Negotiations between the transitional government and the Chadian politico-military groups, which opened on Sunday March 13, and which were immediately suspended for three days, did not resume on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar.
The various parties might not agree on certain points. Negotiations once once more postponed on Wednesday for 48 hours, Anadolu learned from different parties.
“We demand, among other things, equality between the transitional government and the politico-military groups in the negotiations for the inclusive national dialogue (DNI) scheduled for next May,” the leader of the Front for Alternance et la Concorde au Tchad (FACT), one of the main Chadian rebel groups, Mahamat Mahdi Ali.
“Qatar must be an essential intermediary in these Doha negotiations and those of next May. We discussed the issue of our prisoners of war, war crimes and the unilateral ceasefire. There is also the problem of the security of the leaders of the politico-military groups who take part in these negotiations in Doha and in N’djamena in May,” he added.
Abdallah Chidi Djorkodei, representative of the FNDJT (Front de la Nation pour la Démocratie et la Justice) at these meetings, explained to Anadolu that “the negotiations were postponed for 48 hours on Wednesday because the commissions asked for a little time to clean up their texts and the conditions that should be imposed on government representatives”.
The Inclusive National Dialogue (DNI), announced for next May, is presented by the transitional governments as a priority.
This is how the pre-dialogue was initiated to facilitate the holding of the DNI, supposed to lead to the holding of legislative and presidential elections.
At the opening of the pre-dialogue work, the Chadian Prime Minister, Albert Pahimi Padacké, expressed the wish that this meeting in Doha “serve to put a definitive end to the war in Chad”.
Chad has been going through a transitional period for almost a year, following the death of President Idriss Déby Itnos in April 2021 while commanding troops during a fight once morest rebels in the north of the country.
