New portion coffee: Migros coffee balls are much cheaper in France
Despite domestic production, the major distributor demands a Swiss surcharge for Coffee B.
-
The new portioned coffee from Migros has been available since September.
-
A price comparison now shows that Coffee B balls cost up to 38 percent more in Switzerland than in France.
-
Migros justifies this with lower costs for storage and logistics in France.
Consumers abroad can enjoy the new portioned coffee called Coffee B from Migros at a significantly lower price. This is shown by a price comparison “Sunday Newspaper”. Nine organic espresso balls cost 3.69 euros in the Coffee B-Shop for France. The Swiss price is CHF 4.95. At the euro exchange rate of 0.97 Swiss francs, this results in a Switzerland surcharge of 38 percent. The price difference is also large for the Lungo: Swiss customers pay 36 percent more than in France.
The major distributor justifies the difference with lower costs for storage and logistics in France. «Delica runs a warehouse in France. The storage and logistics costs there are on a different level than in Switzerland,” explains Migros spokesman Patrick Stöpper to the “SonntagsZeitung”. And he points to different levels of personnel costs.
French customers currently have other advantages. In a random sample, five out of eight varieties in the Swiss online shop were sold out. In the French online shop, on the other hand, only one variety was out of stock at the same time.
