New PlayStation Plus will not have exclusive launch games

Today finally from PlayStation they have presented their subscription service to compete with the Xbox Game Pass. This service corresponds to a relaunch of PlayStation Plus with different features and tiers. Although it will allow access to games from previous generations, as well as from the same, the service will not include exclusive launch titles as announced by the company.

In a conversation with Gamesindustry, Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation, mentioned that “we believe that we are in a good and virtuous cycle with the studios”, adding that “where investment translates into success, which allows for even more investment, than in turn leads to more success. We like that cycle and we think our players like it too.”

This is how he pointed out in this regard that “as far as putting our own games on this service, or any of our services, on launch day … As you know, it is not a path that we have taken in the past. AND It is still not an option that we are going to choose with this new service”.

As reiterated by the head of PlayStation“We believe that if we were to do that with the games that we make at PlayStation Studios, that virtuous cycle would be broken. The level of investment that we need for our studios would not be possible, and we believe that effect on the quality of the games we make would not be something that players would want.”

The new PlayStation Plus, although it maintains the features in its basic plan, in the higher ones it adds titles from the Original PlayStation, PS2, PS3, PS4, and even from the PSP. You can check the details in the following link.
