New platform brings companies and older employees together

New platform brings companies and older employees together

Keeping older workers in the workforce longer is beneficial for companies, employees and the economy. However, employees often face challenges when it comes to looking for a job. A study by the pollster Foresight on behalf of the AMS employment service showed that 45 percent of older applicants (over 45) received no response.

In order to bring job seekers 45 plus together with companies, the “Senior Quality” job platform has also been available in Upper Austria since the beginning of October: 80 companies are partners. For those registered, there is a free CV check and events where you can find an employer.

With this initiative, FAB, the association for the promotion of work and employment, wants to respond to the generational change in companies. This poses challenges for companies, but can be easily overcome with a mix of young and older employees.

Great loyalty

Companies would gradually begin to rethink things, said Martina Schröck, Head of Senior Quality. On average, younger employees change jobs after 3.5 years, older employees are extremely loyal and length of service is important to them.

FAB boss Silvia Kunz described the Senior Quality platform as an important age-free space: “The hurdle of receiving a rejection or no response simply because of age is eliminated.” Upper Austria is an important business location and offers great potential for both the 45 plus generation and companies.
