New pitfall for the Charlevoix GéoLAGON

A new tile has fallen on the Charlevoix GeoLAGON. Developers will have to go back to the drawing board, since the current construction project has some inconsistencies.

According to analyzes carried out by the legal advisors of the Municipality of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, the current project does not comply with the urban planning regulations in force. Some planned uses in relation to the “tourist residences” of the project do not correspond with the regulations of the targeted area.

“The Municipality thanks the promoter for the interest shown in implementing such a project on the territory […]but specifies that everything must be done in compliance with the applicable regulations, ”explains the administration, in a press release.

She also claims that the study was conducted “without regard” to the control measure adopted by the MRC de Charlevoix in the last few months which, on its own, “constitutes an end of inadmissibility on the project”.

In addition, the analysis reveals that many elements of the project, “which have not been considered until now”, will eventually have to be submitted to a regulatory study.

Adjustment

Asked whether this new information further complicates the implementation of the GéoLAGON, promoter Louis Massicotte believes that it is more of a clarification.

“We were expecting a return from the Municipality and are happy to be able to move forward in a clear direction. […] We are therefore going to adjust the project so that it is more compliant. »

Mr. Massicotte maintains that this type of adjustment is “frequent” in large construction sites.

“I’m glad to see that short-term accommodation and the lagoon are allowed. We are going to adjust the question of tourist residences without any problem, ”he concludes.
