New Original Productions Unveiled: Corn Time and Television Programs Return

Corn time on grocery store shelves rhymes with the return of television programs and the arrival of new programs on the schedule.

In anticipation of the mild weather, Bell Media on Wednesday unveiled its new original productions which will be shown over the next few weeks on its specialty channels.

This year, the broadcaster will offer around 100 productions on its properties, for a total of 1,233 hours. “Investing in local productions remains a priority,” said its general manager, Variety, lifestyle, documentary and digital at Bell Media Quebec, Mélanie Bhérer.

With nearly 3.4 million viewers watching its specialty channels each week, the group intends to continue its momentum, bringing back some of its most-watched shows.

As for Canal Vie, Bell Media renewed “The Groulx family” (start of the 7th season on November 2), “The family is in the meadow” (start of the 4th season on October 12), “Vendre ou Rénover Québec (beginning of the 7th season this winter) and “Le grand move” (beginning of the 3rd season on August 21).

Small change for the show, Mariloup Wolfe will go this season to meet Quebec families who have decided to settle elsewhere in America, notably in Nicaragua, Costa Rica or California. “It’s such a privilege to witness all the stages of their great ‘move’; there are so many questions and choices to be made, I wanted to know everything!”, indicated the facilitator, currently abroad, by way of video.

The channel will also see appear in its schedule “Tout pour vente” (starting August 22), the new “home staging” program hosted by Mélissa Bédard with designer Jacinthe Leroux, and “Couples en survival” (starting August 23). , hosted by Kim Rusk.

“‘Couple Survival’ is a documentary series in which couples dare to put their relationship at risk through a survival experience to test the strength of their relationship,” said Kim Rusk, adding that couples had to move on to through tests tailor-made for them by experts.

Canal Vie will also host the documentary “Surviving Vasectomy”, hosted by Rémi-Pierre Paquin, on August 21 at 10 p.m.

Canal-D, Z et Investigation

Canal-D will offer two new documentary series from August 25, including “Unmasked”, which present the stories of great liars, such as François Pagé, Giovanni Apollo and François Bugingo, and the strategies that were used to unmask them. “Colosse Plamondon” will focus on the story of Yves Plamondon, convicted of triple murder in 1986, then cleared in 2014 following 28 years in prison. The latter will tell his story for the first time.

Mathieu Baron will return to the helm of the show “I came close to death”, which this season will address, among other things, the stories of Babu, Penelope McQuade and Robert Marien. “These are extraordinary stories of people who died and came back to life. […] It’s a gift that I had to be able to listen to these stories, ”said the host on Wednesday.

On the Z side, two new original productions will hit the airwaves in the coming weeks.

“Plein gaz”, which will dive into the world of recreational car racing in Quebec with the participation of Benoit Gagnon and entrepreneurs Jason Labrosse and Elie Arsenault, will take its ease from August 28.

While Pierre Michaud (“RPM” and “RPM+”) will join a community of “crinqués” who devote their lives to restoring old cars in the novelty “Crinqué: sous le bonne”, broadcast from August 21.

The Investigation channel, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, will host Marie-Christine Bergeron’s documentary “Do not rest in peace”, which looks back on the story of Sharron Prior, a 16-year-old teenager from Pointe-Saint-Charles, found dead in Longueuil in 1975, three days following her disappearance.

No more VRAK and Z for Videotron subscribers

Videotron subscribers no longer have access to VRAK or Z since Wednesday. No content strategy for these specialty channels has yet been announced by Bell Media.

On Wednesday, no new original production was unveiled for VRAK, whose repositioning initiated last year towards more mature content has borne fruit and stabilized the channel’s audience.
