The childhood vaccination campaign according to the new national calendar will begin on Sunday, announced the director of prevention and health promotion at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Djamel Fourar.

In a statement to APS, the official clarified that the childhood vaccination campaign will begin on Sunday according to the new national calendar, stressing that “the ministry has adjusted the expanded childhood vaccination program taking into account the epidemiological situation and the developments recorded » to contribute significantly to the fight once morest infant mortality.

As part of this new schedule, children will receive a vaccine combining six (6) antigens in a single (1) injection administered at 2 months, 4 months and 12 months, instead of the three (3) injections planned in the old schedule, he said, explaining that “when there were three (3) injections, we did two and postponed the third to a later date, but the parents did not bring their child back for the third injection.”

In the new schedule, the dose of measles vaccine administered at 3 months has been reduced, since the new schedule provides for full vaccination at 2 months, 4 months and 12 months, added Dr. Fourar.

The child will also receive other vaccines once morest measles, mumps and rubella at 11 months and 18 months as initially planned in the previous schedule.

On this occasion, Dr. Fourar insisted on the need to vaccinate children to protect them once morest 11 serious diseases.

Thanks to its expanded vaccination program and the eradication of several infectious diseases such as diphtheria, measles, poliomyelitis and rubella, Algeria has obtained certificates from the World Health Organization (WHO).
