In recent years, environmental awareness and the search for sustainable alternatives have gained strength in the world. Puerto Rico has not been left behind with the arrival of new models of small electric cars, with more affordable prices and that are marking the moment.
The Isla del Encanto has been fighting air pollution and the high cost of fuel for years. The introduction of electric cars is hailed as a promising solution to address these challenges. However, the initial price of electric vehicles had been a barrier for many consumers in Puerto Rico. Fortunately, this barrier is being broken down with the arrival of these new models of small and affordable electric cars, and with the price competition that is improving the market.
Here the new cars presented this month:
ID Buzz 2025
A vehicle is like a good rock song. Whenever it appears, people smile: this is how Volkswagen’s iconic ID Buzz model was presented. Now it is an electric vehicle. It is expected to have rear-wheel drive and ‘all wheel drive’ configuration, and a range of more than 200 miles per charge.
Prius 2023
In its groundbreaking debut in 2000, the Toyota Prius changed the automotive industry forever. The high-tech sedan ushered in a new generation of vehicles that combines an electric motor with a highly efficient engine. That unmatched legacy continues with the recent reveals of the new 2023 Prius and 2023 Prius Prime.
It has a hybrid system of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, which works in conjunction with an electric motor. Together, these two engines generate a total output of 220 horsepower, delivering agile and smooth highway performance of up to 52 miles per gallon. With a fully charged battery, Prius Prime offers a manufacturer-estimated electric driving range up to 45 miles and is now available for sale.
IONIQ 6
This fully electric sedan represents Hyundai’s vision for the future of electric vehicles, combining style, efficiency and an exhilarating driving experience. It is already available on the Island and is the older brother of IONIQ5 —which won SUV of the year 2022— but this is more of a sedan.
XC30
This compact SUV combines sustainability with power, providing an exhilarating driving experience and projects a good price.
Volvo’s all-wheel-drive model provides 315 kW (428 PS) and takes you from 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds. It is officially the brand’s fastest car, it was launched this week and we expect it to arrive on the Island at a much lower price than its older sister, the XC40.
