Following the previous series of offensives by BYD, MG, SAIC MAXUS and Great Wall ORA, the local domestic car market will have a new round of strong products in the fourth quarter, including BYD’s “Sea Leopard” electric sports car, Dongfeng Group’s Seres 3 Entry-level electric SUVs, and finally the domestic smart electric hatchback that is making a comeback.
Three “seals” will go on sale next month
BYD (BYD)’s brand-new electric sports car “Sea Leopard” Seal, a right-hand drive car, arrived in Hong Kong quietly, and previewed it at the brand’s showrooms in Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories. At the same time, it announced the intended price. The single-motor rear-drive standard version ” One-for-one” car price (the same below) starts at about $309,000; the single-motor rear-drive long-range version starts at about $349,000; the top dual-motor four-wheel drive high-performance version starts at about $376,000, but the agent said that the new car will be officially released in Hong Kong in October. In terms of specifications, the single-motor rear-drive version is equipped with a 61.4kWh blade lithium battery, with a horsepower of 204ps, a torque of 310Nm, and an endurance of 510km (WLTP, the same below). The single-motor rear-drive long-range version and the dual-motor four-wheel drive high-performance version are equipped with 82.5kWh lithium batteries. The former outputs 312ps horsepower and 360Nm torque, with a cruising range of 650km; h is only 3.8 seconds, and the battery life is about 650km.
Seres 3 targets entry-level customers
The Seres (Seres) electric vehicle under domestic Dongfeng officially entered the Hong Kong market. The first store was opened at Wang Kwong Road, Kowloon Bay and put into service at the end of July. The agent took the lead in introducing the new Seres 3 electric SUV series. There are two types of models including the entry-level Comfort version. And the luxury Premium version, the “one-for-one” price is $228,000 and $268,000 respectively. Market competitors include BYD Attos 3 and MG ZS EV.
The two versions are also equipped with 53.6kWh lithium battery, front motor front drive, output horsepower of 163ps, torque of 300Nm, and endurance of about 405km (NEDC mode). Standard equipment includes LED headlights, 18-inch tire wheels, full-vehicle imitation leather seats with front-row electronic adjustment, 10.25-inch touch screen built-in multimedia system, smart phone interface, etc.
The electric smart makes a comeback
Entering the fourth season, the hottest topic is the return of the smart brand to the Hong Kong market. The brand announced last week that it will join hands with its agent Yan Fu Hong to develop the electric vehicle market in Hong Kong and Macau. It is planned to deliver the new car before the end of March next year. The new-generation smart electric car is jointly developed by the mainland Geely Group and Germany’s Mercedes-Benz. It is produced in the mainland factory. The new car has changed the previous two-door, two-seater “Dice” design, and replaced it with a new 5-door, 5-seater hatchback version.
