We are approaching WWDC23, an event in which there is a possibility that Apple will launch new Macs. And, anticipating what we might see at the event (or not), the developer Nicholas Alvarez found references to computers not yet released in a Fetch network configuration file (the file itself lists models that do not support notifications sent to users when Macs are “forgotten”).
There are three models that no one has heard of so far: Mac14,8
, Mac14,13
e Mac14,14
. Pinpointing exactly which machines these are is difficult, but as the file lists computers that are not compatible with notifications from devices left behind, we are most likely talking regarding desktops (Mac mini, iMac, Mac Studio or Mac Pro).
Taking into account that the Mac mini was recently updated and that the Macs Studio and Pro are not expected to get new models now (at least according to Mark Gurman), it is possible that these new models are iMacs. On the other hand, the identification Mac14
is linked to computers that are mostly equipped with the M2 chip.
Much is said that the iMac will skip this generation, going straight to the “M3”. Mac Studio would apparently also skip the M2 generation, leaving us with the possibility that these models are Pro Macs — even though they are not being presented right now, at WWDC23.
As always, we can only wait to try to assemble this puzzle.
