Apple’s M2 chip has already been released – but what about the M2 Pro and Co.?
The M2 chip only offers minor improvements compared to its predecessor. However, an M2 Pro and Pro Max are still expected in October. In addition, an M2 Ultra and Extreme should follow next year.
Many cores expected
The following configurations are predicted for the M2 range:
- M2 Pro: 10 CPU cores, 20 GPU cores, up to 48 GB RAM
- M2 Max: 10 CPU cores, 40 GPU cores, up to 96 GB RAM
- M2 Ultra: 24 CPU cores, 80 GPU cores, up to 192 GB RAM
- M2 Extreme: 48 CPU cores, 160 GPU cores, up to 384 GB RAM
All chips are to be manufactured using TSMC’s N4P process. The switch to 3nm is rather unlikely.
