New life; only Prana left, the fear and worry of that night in the cage

The camp was closed and some victims returned to their homes. When I was at the camp, a lot of locals were with me. Volunteers and government officials are there to help. It no longer exists. Many climb the mountain in the dead of night and wake up in the morning wet, cold and sick from the heavy rain. Now there is a place to lie down without getting wet from the rain. But with a new life comes only the fear and worry of that night.

Move home and return to camp

Lucia, a native of Mundakai, rented a house in Mutir with his family a few days ago. The house was found and given by government officials. When they got home they found it was a very bad house. When the wind blows, the caterpillars jump out of the straw. This kept him awake that night. When officials called the next morning, they were told they couldn’t stay here. They came and took everything back to the camp. Then found this place in Wardy’s dormitory. Moved here on Thursday. Rukia said that the new place has all the necessary facilities.

But I don’t know what to do. Lucia is a real estate worker. Lives in Paddy. I can no longer indulge in songs. The distance between Mundakai and Vodhi where he now lives is about 35 kilometers. It’s impossible to travel long distances to get to work on time. Rukiya’s husband also worked as a laborer in Churamala and Mundakai districts.

“I don’t know which school to send my child to”

Majida was a native of Mundakai and found residence in Mundri. Majida said he was looking for a house somewhere in the Maipardi area but without success. The main problem is not being able to buy a house. Existing homes require huge rents and down payments. That’s why I decided to move to my house in Mundli. The older boy studies in the LP class at Mundakai School. The move is for the temporary opening of Mundakai School at Meppadi Govt High School. He tried to leave the Mepardy home and continue teaching at the school. The results were disappointing. In this way, he moved to his residence in Mundri on Saturday.

It is impossible to leave a child alone on the road from Munderi to Meppadi every day. Now we have to find a new school to enroll our children in. After selling all his gold and collecting it through work and loans, he purchased a piece of land in Mundakai worth 10.5 cents. Majida said no house could be built in that place. Majida also has a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. The husband works in industry.

All that’s left is fear and worry

Many people have dark eyes when they think about the future. When asked what was left, all they could say was prana. Even though the government, political parties, voluntary organizations, houses, places and jobs provide everything, the question arises, can we get it all? They had before them the examples of Putumala and Kavalapala. So you can only be sure if you get something. Until then, you have to worry about it. Many people rented their homes for six months.

After that there are no answers. Mundakkai and Churalmala are the lands of common people who dream of marriage, family, job, education etc. All these dreams were shattered.
