Juárez, NL., In his first meeting with Samuel García following his frustrated attempt to be a presidential candidate, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador assured that Nuevo León is fortunate to have him as governor, while the local president expressed that he will always be grateful to him .
It’s good that they have a governor like Samuel García, because they will be able to take advantage of this favorable circumstance to encourage more investment in Nuevo León. Samuel knows a lot regarding it, he promotes it; He has demonstrated it, said the head of the federal Executive when predicting an economic boom in the entity related to the nearshoring (geolocation of companies) and with the inauguration of the last stage of the El Cuchillo II aqueduct, which he said will solve the water problems of Monterrey and its metropolitan area in the medium term.
López Obrador and García launched the entire aqueduct, which will pump 5,000 liters of water per second to supply the Monterrey population, which last year suffered a serious crisis of water shortage.
At the facilities of the San Roque Water Treatment Plant, in the peripheral area of Monterrey, the federal president trusted that the work, in addition to solving water problems, will result in investments that will keep Nuevo León “as the vanguard of the development of our country.” .
Towards the future, foreign investment is guaranteed in Mexico and, of course, for the north of the country, especially Nuevo León, and yes, water is essential. It is a good message for foreign investors.
He stressed that the local government must work more or go into more detail on planning issues for the arrival of new companies and also use the entire territory of Nuevo León and think a lot regarding the border municipalities, because the commercial exchange with the United States will continue. We still have time, regarding nine months, and we are going to continue working together with Samuel. We will also leave plans and programs moving forward, for the benefit of the people of Nuevo León, it is our commitment, added the President.
With the commissioning of the aqueduct, Samuel García resolved the water crisis that the capital of New Leon has suffered; He maintained that this would not have been possible without the support and sensitivity of López Obrador.
It seemed impossible to fulfill this project; We were urged by a historic drought, but thanks to his sensitivity, to his team, today Nuevo León can say that we have resolved the water crisis, García said when addressing the president.
I will never stop being grateful, and even less so to you, because in terms of water and security we have improved a lot thanks to the support of the federal government, he added.
Germán Martínez Santoyo, director of the National Water Commission (Conagua), explained that the construction of the aqueduct was achieved in just over a year, which he described as a record time.
The start-up was carried out in three stages: on September 13, the first pumping system started to bring 1,200 liters per second to the city; On October 26, a second system was launched, which doubled the flow of liquid. Later, the pumping was stopped to carry out work to interconnect the systems, and it was restored this Friday, he explained. The third stage was the one that started yesterday and it was reported that it will increase the flow of water it pumps, until reaching 5 thousand liters per second in five days.
