New KHL Rule: No More Than Three Seconds Behind the Net

Hmm. Interesting.

These are the first two words that came to mind when I saw the new rule that will be introduced in the KHL next year.

Basically, it’s not really rocket science. A player will no longer have the right to keep the puck more than three seconds behind his own net, otherwise the referees will whistle to give an offensive face-off to the other team.

The player at fault will receive a warning… And if he continues to make the error, he will be eligible to receive a fine from the league.

The goal, of course, is to increase the speed of play to prevent defenders from spending too much time in their territory in order to relaunch the attack.

I like it, honestly.

It puts a new element in the game and it allows you to have less dead time on the ice. It’s good for the show.

I wonder how much the guys will have to adjust. After all, it’s not like they only do that on the ice… But I imagine that at the start of the season, some players will forget the rule in question.

Which is normal, we agree.

I also wonder how much potential it has to change the strategy of coaches. We know that players like to go to the bench when the puck is in their territory and when a player settles behind his net, it’s usually to give his teammates time to make a change.

It’s still special, in the end, and I can’t wait to see if it will make a difference on the ice. What do you think of this new rule?

A lot of

– The Rocket has unveiled its schedule for next year.

– Johnathan Kovacevic, the traveler!

“Close your eyes and tell me it’s not Arber talking.

– Really cool!

– The games are made at Wimbledon.

– Logic.
