New Jeep Recon Moab 4xe BEV Unveiled: All You Need to Know and See

Automaker Stellantis gathered several Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram dealerships in Las Vegas last week to detail the future products that will join the catalog. On site were five electric vehicle concepts, namely the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, the Ram 1500 REV, the Chrysler Airflow Graphite as well as the Jeep Wagoneer S and Recon.

The latter, let’s remember, will become the very first fully battery-powered Jeep on the North American market when it goes into production in 2024 for the 2025 model year. In the meantime, we have new images of the concept, officially called “Recon Moab 4xe BEV”, courtesy of the forum Jeep Recon.

On these, you can clearly see the massive front bumper and its two tow hooks, the grille with its seven closed and illuminated slots, as well as the hood which, instead of being domed, has a large flat hollow. No combustion engine underneath, it must be said!

The square silhouette of the Recon is divided into two parts: the upper one is dressed in black and matched with side sills on the roof, while the lower one brings a big contrast in addition to sporting protective moldings on the edge of the fenders and at the bottom of the doors.

In the photos, we seem to detect the presence of retractable running boards, while the BFGoodrich all-terrain tires appear to have a dimension of 285/70R17, which corresponds to the tires of the Wrangler Rubicon.

It is not possible to see the vehicle with the roof open or even without its doors, unfortunately. As for the “4xe” badges, similar to those of Jeep’s plug-in hybrid models (Wrangler 4xe, Grand Cherokee 4xe), they do designate a 100% electric motorization in this case.

By the way, we know that the Recon will offer several driving modes thanks to Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system and that an electronic locking differential will be part of the equipment.

The unveiling of the production model will be later in 2023 with, hopefully, most of the technical specifications like power and autonomy. Our information tells us that it won’t be next week at the New York Auto Show, but rather at a later date.
