Many commuters expressed surprise and frustration at the altered schedules, especially those who rely on the Jabodetabek Commuter Line for their daily commutes.
Ipah (44), a regular KRL user traveling the Rangkasbitung – Tanah Abang route from Tigaraksa station, shared her experience. “I only found out about the change when I arrived at the station and heard the announcement. I had been waiting for a long time,” she explained.”The trains now seem to be arriving much later than usual.I even had time to use the restroom. I’ll have to adjust my schedule to ensure I catch my train on time now.”
Salma (26) also encountered the same issue. “my usual train departs at 8:27 WIB, but today it didn’t arrive until much later. These changes will definately impact my daily routine,” she admitted, adding that she plans to arrive at the station earlier to avoid being late.
The new Gapis system has undoubtedly generated a buzz among Jakarta’s commuters, prompting many to adjust their travel habits and navigate the itinerary changes.
Adapting to Change: Commuters React to New KRL Schedule
The introduction of a new train schedule has prompted mixed reactions from commuters. Salma, a regular passenger, acknowledged the change, stating, ”we’ll have to adjust our time again in the future to match the new KRL schedule.”
Despite the adjustment required,Salma remains positive, adding,”Not bad because you have to change or adjust your time for your daily routine (daily routine) in the morning.”
While some commuters like arifin embrace the change, others need time to acclimate. Arifin, a seasoned time manager, remarked, “if it’s not for me, because I can manage time, thank God this. But I haven’t tried it too” he plans to fully assess the impact of the new schedule after the weekend, observing, “Only today, because today is actually a holiday right, maybe later, maybe Monday can, Tuesday feels for significant changes or not.”
Arifin’s viewpoint highlights the diverse experiences commuters are having with the new KRL schedule. As the week progresses, it will be captivating to see how people continue to adapt and how the transportation system evolves to meet the needs of its riders.

Adapting to Trains: Commuters react to New KRL Schedules
Following the introduction of the new Gapis system, Jakarta’s KRL commuter line has seen a host of changes affecting everyday runs for millions. To understand the impact on riders, Archyde spoke with Ipah and Arifin, two regular commuters, about their experiences.
Archyde: How has the new Gapis system impacted your daily commute?
Ipah: Honestly, it’s been disruptive. Last week,I simply showed up at my usual time, expecting my regular train. I waited and waited, but it never came! Turns out, it was delayed quiet a bit. I eventually had time to use the restroom while waiting, something that never happens on my usual morning commute! I’m worried about missing appointments and getting to work on time with these changes.
Archyde: So are you adjusting your routine?
Ipah: Absolutely. Now I’ll need to allow extra time in case of further delays.
Archyde: Arifin, what has your experience been like?
Arifin: As someone who manages their time meticulously, I find the new schedule manageable. I’m able to adjust accordingly. Today, as an exmaple, was a holiday so things felt different, but I’m sure once the week starts back up, I’ll get into a good rhythm.
Archyde: Do you foresee any significant challenges with the new system?
Arifin: Perhaps for commuters who are less flexible, who might struggle to adjust to the new timings. Time will tell how wide-reaching these changes will be,but for now,it’s all relatively smooth sailing for me.
Archyde: Thanks for your insights, both of you. It’s clear that the new Gapis system has created ripples throughout the KRL commuting community. What SSO Other commuters: What’s your biggest challenge or advantage in adapting to the new KRL schedule? Share your experience in the comments below!
