New injectable treatment against the transmission of HIV/AIDS

UNITAID and its partners are launching a new injectable treatment once morest the transmission of HIV/AIDS, in Brazil and South Africa.

People on pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in these two countries will now be able to switch from taking daily oral tablets to an injection every two months, to prevent exposure to HIV during sex without a condom.
