New incidents in Argentina after the vote on the ‘omnibus law’

The Government of Javier Milei obtained general approval of its ‘omnibus law’ and begins a frenetic negotiation for the vote on the articles, including extraordinary powers and privatization of public companies. At the same time, incidents were reported between the security forces and those who were demonstrating against the president’s adjustment policies.

As already happened on Wednesday and Thursday, the other two days in which the Chamber of Deputies debated the Law Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines, the attempt by protesters to move onto the road – the limit established by the protocol ‘anti-picketing’ of the Ministry of Security – led the agents of the different federal forces deployed to act harshly.

Pepper spray, rubber bullets and water cannon trucks were once again used against the activists, some of whom threw bottles at the motorized troops.

Meanwhile, the protesters, many with their faces covered with scarves, broke the sidewalk to use projectiles or threw sticks and bottles at the Police. They also set fire to a garbage container, which led to the presence of firefighters, and a mattress in the street.

After the general approval of the law in Deputies, the protesters had defied the security protocol by blocking the avenue adjacent to Congress, but the Police forced them to free the street and they stayed in the square applauding to protest against the approval of the law. law in Congress.
