The construction of bibbiena’s new gymnasium is progressing at an extraordinary pace, with Mayor filippo Vagnoli recently sharing updates during a tour of ongoing municipal projects. The foundation has been laid, the gym block reinforced, and the wooden framework is set to become visible in the coming days. This facility, designed to serve both the adjacent school and local associations, is already taking shape with concrete changing rooms and classrooms in place, alongside completed infills and exterior coatings.
“This gym represents a vital addition to our community, made possible through an investment exceeding 1.5 million euros,” Mayor Vagnoli emphasized. ”For years, students have had to relocate to other buildings for physical education. We view sports as a cornerstone for the well-rounded development of young individuals, but this requires appropriate spaces. This gym addresses that need directly, supporting our vision for a brighter future.I extend my gratitude to the public works team, Deputy Mayor Matteo Caporali, and the school staff for their collaboration. Despite the challenges of construction, we’ve managed to maintain school activities with minimal disruption.”
Mayor Vagnoli also highlighted recent upgrades to the neighboring elementary school, underscoring its change into a modern, welcoming environment. “Our vision for education is clear: schools should be healthy, inclusive spaces that nurture the citizens of tomorrow—who are, after all, citizens of today. their right to quality facilities is non-negotiable. The recent renovations, including new fixtures, a roof, and exterior coating, reflect this commitment. Over the past 15 years, our municipality has invested over 20 million euros in school infrastructure, setting a benchmark for other communities. Schools are undeniably the heart of a thriving community.”
