With the latest drivers, AMD has managed to fix the timeout issues associated with Auto-OC performance tuning. All in all, “Valheim” should now also run more smoothly with the new drivers under the Vulkan APU. So far, using the latest Radeon graphics cards has often resulted in crashes or driver timeouts.
Similar problems have so far also been seen with “The Witcher 3” when ray tracing was activated. Occasionally it crashed or the driver timed out. Only resetting the settings to the factory settings might eliminate the problems.
However, AMD still cannot solve one of the biggest problems of the current Radoen RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX. AMD has already confirmed that the graphics cards have an energy efficiency problem in connection with high resolutions and fast refresh rates. Specifically, it is an increased power consumption during hardware-accelerated video playback and in idle mode. Although AMD was already able to reduce the power consumption of graphics cards in general with the December update, the problems seem to continue.
AMD has already announced that it will also work on the efficiency of the graphics cards in the upcoming drivers and improve them even further. The company currently even recommends checking the power consumption using tools such as GPU-Z or HWInfo and, if necessary, limiting the refresh rates of the graphics cards to prevent excessive power consumption.#
