The American giant Amazon has just announced the release of two new audio/video products for the home incorporating the personal assistant Alexa. This is the new Echo Pop half-sphere shaped speaker and a new version of the Echo Show screen, all the details of which are here.
To expand its range of connected products for the home, Amazon is launching a new compact connected speaker. Called Echo Pop, it sports the shape of a half-sphere regarding 10 cm in diameter and weighs just under 200 grams. To show that the loudspeaker is working and that it is listening to you, a light bar is present on the upper part of the circle, on the front. On the top, three buttons allow you to control the volume and mute the microphone to ensure privacy. Otherwise, three microphones are ready to pick up your every voice command. The speaker is Bluetooth LE and dual-channel WiFi compatible. In addition, we can also count on the support of the Matter home automation protocol. The Amazon Echo Pop connected speaker is available in four colors: anthracite, white, lavender or duck green. In addition, the brand offers, as accessories, colored silicone shells. An Echo Show 5 with more bass
The second product announced by Amazon is a new version of the Amazon Echo Show 5 interactive display. This is the third generation of the device. This takes up the main lines of the previous version with a slightly more rounded format and more depth. So it’s a bit bigger.
The screen still measures 5.5 inches diagonally and uses an LCD panel. The Echo Show 5 is now covered in fabric. It still sports buttons to manage the volume, mute the microphones (a new redesigned range) and the camera (still 2 megapixels) to ensure privacy in the room.
But this new version does not only benefit from aesthetic changes. The audio part has also been revised since it offers, according to Amazon, the “double bass“compared to the previous generation and a sound”clearer“. The device is also more responsive thanks to the integration of a new chipset. According to Amazon, 99% of the packaging of these devices is made from wood fiber materials from responsibly managed forests or recycling streams while the fabric of the Echo Pop and Echo Show 5 devices is made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn.
The Echo Pop and Echo Show 5 feature a low-power mode that intelligently conserves power during periods of inactivity and saves energy for the lifetime of each device (depending on user settings).
