The Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia claims it attacked at least seven Israeli military positions in northern Israel and on the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights with rockets.
According to the Israeli military (IDF), Hezbollah fired about 90 rockets at Israeli targets during Saturday.
At the same time, the IDF reports that Israeli planes have bombed thousands of militia launch pads in southern Lebanon that “were ready to be immediately used to fire at Israeli territory.”
The information has not been confirmed by independent sources.
On Friday, at least 37 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike against a suburb south of Beirut. According to Hezbollah, 16 of its members were killed in the attack, including senior military leader Ibrahim Aqil.
The IDF claims in a post on X Saturday that they have now killed a large part of the military leadership in the Hezbollah militia.
But several civilians were also killed, including several women and children, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Close to 70 people were injured in the attack.
Friday’s attack, together with the many explosions in pagers and walkie-talkies in the past, has increased the fear that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah will escalate further and end in real war.
