New Fiat Fastback: Italian rival of the Renault Arkana and the Peugeot 408!

Fiat

Fiat has just unveiled its new coupe SUV called Fastback, this model will initially be intended for the Brazilian market, however, nothing excludes the possibility of its marketing in the European market.

Little by little, a segment formerly intended exclusively for premium brands, is beginning to be targeted by generalist manufacturers. After the Peugeot 408, Stellantis has therefore just launched its second model belonging to this category: the Fiat Fastback, the rival of the Renault Arkana in the coupe SUV segment.

Aesthetically, the Fastback takes up the design of a prototype presented by Fiat in 2018. Nevertheless, this coupé SUV sports new elements that the Italian firm only offers in a higher segment, such as the muscular hood, the horizontal LED light signatures, as well as than the grille, with a honeycomb shape that gives it a more aggressive touch.

New Fiat Fastback also incorporates some elements of the sporty Abarth, such as the bumper, with two large false air intakes and the wheel arches. At the rear, the plunging roof that gives it that fastback look that gives the model its name. The fully horizontal LED rear optics are also striking, slightly reminiscent of the BMW X6, the dean of the coupé SUVs.

The Fiat Fastback will be larger, more refined and will be powered by the 185hp, 270nm 1.3 turbo engine already available in other Stellantis cars. According to the Brazilian press, the most powerful versions of the Fiat Fastback can be expected to reach R$150,000 (around €28,500) at launch.

Finally, if the Fastback will compete with the most expensive compact SUVs in the segment, it is only natural that it also targets less expensive models, like the Nissan Kicks.
