A retired soldier was arrested following barricading himself in his private home in Valparaíso, following killing his 54-year-old partner. Along with this, there was a shootout between this individual and GOPE personnel, in which a carabinero was injured.
Around 9:30 p.m. this Tuesday, a 55-year-old retired military man barricaded himself in his private home following killing his partner in Cerro San Roquein the upper part of the commune of Valparaiso.
In this context, this person took his partner, a 54-year-old woman, hostage.
Personnel from the GOPE of Carabineros from the Valparaíso region arrived at this place.
After this, there was a shooting confrontation between this person who was carrying two weapons (pistol and revolver), and police personnel who were outside this house on Calle Los Pajaritos and Camino Viejo.
“A call to 133 enters by a victim who was being attacked by his partner, which is why Carabineros personnel move to the place and are received by shots from inside the building,” said Colonel Pablo Silva, prefect of Police of Valparaiso.
Under these circumstances Carabineros managed to enter this address following several hours, where two situations might be verified.
First, the death of this person’s partner, who had a gunshot wound to the back area, for which this retired Army noncommissioned officer was detained.
“Upon entering the building we found a victim, an adult woman lying on the floor, and as a result of that the reduction of the individual was achieved,” Colonel Silva said.
Arrested for consummated femicide
This man was preliminarily arrested for the crime of femicide in a consummate degree.
Meanwhile, this retired military officer did not have a police record. It is also unknown any previous cause for domestic violence.
Along with this, personnel from the Homicide Brigade of the PDI He will work at the scene of the event and Carabineros will make the detainee available to the Prosecutor’s Office.
As a result of the shooting confrontation, a GOPE carabinero was injured in his right forearm.
Finally, this fact becomes the ninth femicide so far in 2022.
