New energy aid measures in November and December: will co-owners be able to take advantage of them?

We are interested this Wednesday in the question of Daniel. He lives in an apartment, condominium. He wonders regarding the new special energy measures of the federal government. Measures to help us cope with soaring gas and electricity prices. But Daniel is a little lost: he wonders if the condominiums are really concerned by these aids?

Daniel’s case ultimately concerns many other Belgians who live in condominiums, with collective energy contracts.

Here are the government aids, decided a few weeks ago:

– 135 euros for gas
– 61 euros for electricity

And this during the months of November and December.

This aid will be granted to each household and that is where it gets stuck. In some condominiums, there is only one gas connection, in the name of the condominium.

And so Daniel, like others, is worried regarding whether there will only be one reduction per contract, or whether each household will be entitled to their 135 euros.

The Minister for Energy has clarified the situation on this point. The inhabitants of apartment buildings and other collective dwellings which have only one gas connection will indeed benefit from the measure.

How to benefit from it?

The federal government is still working on how to proceed. Obviously, you should rather ask for it. A bit like the oil check. Trustees and owners had to go through a website, where everything was coordinated. But the practical details still need to be finalized.
