New emergency notice – The areas that will “burn” 2024-07-15 17:06:45

The southwest current that prevails in the lower levels of the atmosphere on the coasts of Africa and the Central Mediterranean will transport warm air masses to our region and cause very high temperatures in our country, which will be maintained at least until Friday 19/7.

The highest temperatures will occur in the interior of mainland Greece (mainly in the west and north) and in the islands of the eastern Aegean.

In the coastal areas of the mainland the maximum temperature value will be 2 to 4 degrees lower due to the sea breeze.

The minimum temperatures will fluctuate at high levels, especially from Monday 15/7.

More detail:

1. Today Sunday (14-7-2024) high temperatures will prevail mainly in the west, the north, the islands of the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese. The maximum temperature will reach:

a. In Macedonia, Thrace and Epirus their 38 to 40 degrees and
locally in central Macedonia their 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.
b. In western Sterea, Thessaly and western Peloponnese 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.
c. In the eastern Sterea and the eastern Peloponnese their 40 and
locally 41 degrees Celsius.
d. In the Ionian, the islands of the Eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese and southern Crete, 36 to 38 degrees Celsius.
e. In the rest of the island country, 32 to 35 degrees Celsius.
f. In Attica their 38 to 39 degrees Celsius.

3. On Monday (15-7-2024) the maximum temperature will reach:

a. In Macedonia, Thrace and Epirus 39 to 40 degrees and in central Macedonia locally 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.
b. In western Sterea, Thessaly and western Peloponnese 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.
c. In eastern Sterea and eastern Peloponnese 40 to 41 degrees Celsius.
d. In the Ionian, the islands of the Eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese and southern Crete, 37 to 39 degrees Celsius.
e. In the rest of the island country, 33 to 36 degrees Celsius.
f. In Attica their 38 to 39 degrees Celsius.

4. On Tuesday (16-7-2024) the maximum temperature will reach:

a. In Macedonia, Thrace and Epirus 40 to 41 and locally 42 degrees Celsius.
b. In western Sterea, Thessaly and western Peloponnese 41 to 42 and locally 43 degrees Celsius.
c. In eastern Sterea and eastern Peloponnese 40 to 42
Celsius degrees.
d. In the Ionian, the islands of the Eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese and southern Crete, 38 to 40 degrees Celsius.
e. In the rest of the island country, 34 to 37 degrees Celsius.
f. In Attica their 38 to 39 degrees Celsius.

5. On Wednesday (17-7-2024) and Thursday (18-7-2024) the maximum temperature is expected to reach:

a. In the interior of the western, central and northern mainland of 42 to 43 degrees Celsius.
b. In the Ionian, the islands of the Eastern Aegean, the Dodecanese and southern Crete are 39 to 41 degrees Celsius.
c. In the rest of the island country, 35 to 38 degrees Celsius.
d. In Attica their 39 to 40 degrees Celsius.

5. The temperatures will be re-determined on a daily basis.

At the same time, it is pointed out that conditions of high thermal stress are predicted due to the upcoming temperatures, in most of the continental regions of the country.
The emergency bulletin will be updated every 24 hours.
