The national registry of persons (Renaper) announced the implementation of a new electronic National Identity Document (DNI). This is a new type of national identity document that incorporates a chip and a QR code. These two elements will enable identity verification and reinforce security.

The DNI will be printed with laser technology and will be made of polycarbonate, a material that according to Renaper is more resistant and durable.

In the coming days Renaper will announce the possibility of carrying out the procedures with the new model. With this Argentina joins other countries in the region that added international security standards to reinforce identification.

For now, the current classic copies will continue to be issued and will have the same validity as the electronic DNI.
