According to information transmitted by ERT, regarding the real causes of the episode and the profile of those involved, the leader of the group of customers, who caused the episode, may not yet have been officially informed by the Bulgarian authorities. about his criminal past, however, according to Bulgarian media, he is a well-known drug dealer in Sofia, and the information collected by the Greek authorities indicates that the Bulgarian Justice was preparing to issue an arrest warrant against him for a bunch of criminal offenses.
From the same investigation, the Greek authorities have established that the owner of the business is actually a “straw man” of a Godfather of the night in Bulgaria, with whom the alleged drug dealer allegedly has a rivalry.
A 41-year-old Bulgarian man is in the frame of the police investigation. He was the man who brought his company to the famous store. He and six others. The past of this specific person has been under the microscope of the Greek prosecuting authorities from the first moment and the information material was already being exchanged with the Bulgarian authorities since noon. The individual, who was arrested but was not injured, is said to have strong connections in the mafia circles of the neighboring country.
On the other hand it is the 55-year-old shop owner. Both are better known by their first names and accompanying nicknames. The investment he made with the purchase of the well-known beach bar of Chanioti, which every summer becomes the focus of “in tourism” on the first leg of Halkidiki, was discussed a lot in the neighboring country.
The Authorities therefore believe that as they knew that this particular store had an event that night and possibly did not have good guys permanently inside the business, they wanted to cause an incident in order to damage the business. However, they did not know that there was a possibility that thugs would immediately intervene in the store, and perhaps that is why those with pistols were not armed either.
As for the three escapees, two have already been identified and are being sought. They are Greek citizens of Bulgarian origin and both have been of concern to the authorities in the past for extortion and protection in nightclubs. One was even arrested in 2021 for shooting outside a nightclub in Thessaloniki and the other had a past and even participated in Golden Dawn.
A total of 8 people have been arrested for the case so far, including the two injured as well as the injured owner from the beating. Those who are in a position are being brought before the Prosecutor today, while the investigation continues, until the identification of the rest involved.
